HAIR FASHION GUIDELINES

HAIR FASHION GUIDELINES

Listen up ladies! Before you venture outside onto the streets of San Francisco, position thyself before a full-length mirror. Now, turn 90˚to the right and look left into the mirror; next, turn another 180˚ to your right and look right. Did you see it? Yes, the back half of your hair and body. That's the half that the other half of the world is seeing that you're ignoring. Bad mistake because Mr. Wonderful could be seeing that half as he verges in from behind. Yup, very true. Here is another question for you. How does one become chic? The answer. With differing looks for daytime, dinner, exercising, beaching, lunching, and shopping. You should be trying to change your look every 30-40 minutes; however, reality need follow only a few guidelines. For hues of rich glossy hair color:
1. Keep hair well moisturized, and always use a cuticle sealer prior to styling. The more light that can reflect off of your hair shaft the glossier your hair will appear.
2. Plan ahead for tomorrow so that you have the right products to show off your haircut and hair color. Think of this as damage control.
3. Heat is the biggest threat to your hair. Hair dryers, flat irons, and the sun are your enemy. Cut down on the amount of heat you use, and seek out the help of a professional hairstylist on how to restore your hair.
4. Get a great haircut! Long layers play up shine, give volume, and bring out the color dimensions that your hair coloring has going on. Shredded, porous, or dry hair never looks good. Even in the shortest of haircuts require thought out layers since they are the key.
Whether it be bold or subtle, your hair color should be an extension of your hair style. Oh, and no matter what anyone may tell you, scrunchies are not a look.

HAIR COLORING NO NO

Okay, so another dish is going to be exposed straight from the sources of my hair industry blah blah. Stylelist ran a story about a “new” color technique that some celebrity stylist named Ombre hair color. Ombre what? After reading the spread it is nothing more than a spin on a hair coloring technique called Balayage. Sasson’s similar hair coloring technique was called Flying Colors. It is a poor woman’s way to color her hair. These hair color techniques involve free painting the hair color or lightener (aka bleach) into the hair without the use of foils. The demarcation line (aka roots) is exaggerated. Isn’t that what you don’t want? I cannot imagine anything worse than a hot blonde hair chick walking around with her darks on. Not exactly pretty except when you don’t have the money. Ouch! May we suggest using a professional hair colorist that can create color rather than focus on trendy techniques? Stick with the proven, and always avoid the trend because trends come and go, but style lives long.

SUMMER, BEACH, AND HAIR COLOR

Summer, Beach, and Hair Color

Ladies and gentlemen your ultimate protection while frolicking in the sun is must. What’s more, is that for you ladies your hair color, its condition, and shine are all being jeopardized while living it up at the beach or by the pool. Blonde hair color becomes sallow, brassy, and straw like during summer. Deeper brunette hair color can go reddish while lighter brunettes go golden if lucky. Next thing you know, you need a color touch up. Redheads glow amber or better yet strawberry, but your fairer delicate skin should keep you from going out in those damaging rays for hours on end. Don’t be fooled redheads. Whatever way you slice it, the sun is not a friend to anyone’s hair.

Damaging UV rays cause the hairs’ cuticle to dull, dehydrated, and promotes hair frizz. Oh yeah big time. Even those with straight hair know what I am referring. Now lets mix in salt from the sea or pool chemicals. This is going to hurt. Now your hair gets stripped of its oils, accelerates undesired color tones, and can even create barriers due to metals that adhere to as well as within the hair shaft. Don’t believe it. Fine, but after a long weekend in the sun take some time to examine your hair in the mirror. Do you see any differences? We bet you do.

Ah, but there is a balance. May we suggest scheduling a treatment to counter balance all that fun you are having outdoors. You know, stop those brassy or yellowed blonde tones, correct that red in your brunette, and rehydrate those locks. Yes redheads you too are invited.

Don’t you want your hair to feel soft again?

Remember, wear those sun hats to stop your hair color from going to where you don’t want it to go, and come in to get some shine protection on Fridays. UV is around us all year long, and I want to make your hair color looks its best all year long as well. All you have to do is to ask me what I can do to help your hair looks its best. I would love to share my 30-years of knowledge with you. Summer damage control is official here.

SO LET IT BE BLONDE

So Let It Be BLONDE!

Okay, so we going to give you the skinny on Lohan’s new blonde hair color that took over 10 hours to do. According to our industry sources her dark brunette colored hair was stripped, and re-colored. Ouch!!! Can we say maybe her hair is not touchable? Probably not, but this is definitely not what you woman want to be doing to your own hair. Why you ask? Read on to understand the process.

Lohan’s previously dark colored hair was first stripped using a color remover (AKA bleach). Because her color was so dark the bleached hair tones are brassy, and the hair shaft is left feeling similar to a pot scrubber. Next, the toning which adds another chemical process further roughens the hair shaft. Although industry sources say they did use a non-ammonia based product to tone her hair; it is still a chemical, and really not the right one in this salon’s opinion. It also explains why her new blonde hair color still looks so gold-yellow. Poor thing. It’s why this San Francisco hair salon offers to every woman that wants to do this type of transformation that does not have VIP funding alternative choices.

Don’t get us wrong we love doing dramatic hair color changes for women; however, in reality most women do not have that type of disposable funding let alone the correct hair integrity, and Lohan’s hair integrity isn’t looking that great. Our advice; stick with the hair color you love no matter what shade of blonde it is. The hair color rush is usually one that you cannot afford unless you’re a VIP that is.

To Short 2 Dye 4

Hayden Panettiere’s pixie is, well, not the best it could have been. Although we are sure it was intended to be winning, her newest hairstyle is anything but. This brings up our stance for making sure to always coach a woman to wear a hairstyle that compliments her personality as well as heightens her femininity. This goes twice for Hayden’s impetuous hair coloring whims. Now, this is not to say you cannot do it; however, most women cannot afford whims. For those of you than can, avoid it because of what the results normally yield. BAD HAIR! Hence, it is why we believe Hayden now sports her short pixie. Although US Magazine reports it was because she was tired of being known as cute. As with any decisions made in life, be true to who you are then go for it. It is a wonderful motto to live by, but remember to listen to sound advice when it is given.
Lastly, if you're called cute it should always be taken as a compliment. It means that you are coy. Hence, obtain a hairstyle that compliments who you are, and not what you are running away from or trying to pretend to be. Let us work with you to show you how to bring out your coyness.
